Makera Carvera Desktop with Automatic Tool Changer
The Makera Carvera is the most advanced desktop CNC milling machine in the Makera range, designed for demanding makers, engineers and small companies that do not want to compromise on precision. Unlike the Air version, the Carvera introduces features typical of industrial machines worth tens of thousands of euros — automatic tool changer, wireless probe and self-leveling — enclosed in a compact format that fits on any desk.
At the heart of the system is the 6-position automatic tool changer (ATC): the machine selects the correct tool for each machining step by itself, completely eliminating the manual intervention that requires frequent stops on other desktop CNCs. This means being able to perform operations in a single cycle that would normally require several different tools — roughing, finishing, drilling, engraving — without ever stopping the work to change the drill bit by hand.
Automatic probe and self-leveling
The wireless probe and the self-leveling function guarantee precise results even on materials that are not perfectly flat, significantly reducing processing waste. It is a particularly useful function in PCB production: just load the circuit path file and the machine manages tool change and leveling autonomously, a workflow that would traditionally require waiting times from external fab-houses.
Structure and precision
The frame is made of metal alloy and stainless steel shell with ABS and engineering polycarbonate, combining modern aesthetics with robustness and durability. Linear guides and ball screws, combined with closed-loop servo motors on all axes, ensure smooth, quiet and vibration-free operation, for industrial-grade precision in desktop format.
Integrated suction system and laser module
Unlike traditional desktop CNCs, the Carvera fully integrates the dust extraction system into the machine structure — a real advantage when processing materials such as carbon fiber or fiberglass, where dust control is critical. The built-in laser module also adds the possibility of engraving, for example for screen printing on PCBs after removing the solder mask, from the same software interface used for milling.
